Why climate dialogue with your MP ?

It becomes ever more clear that:

Much greater action is needed to drastically cut current greenhouse gas emissions in real terms by 2030 than is currently being taken.

We therefore need to communicate loud and clear in large numbers that it is no longer acceptable simply to announce ever more ambitious targets but not to take any real action to cut greenhouse gas emissions drastically in real terms over the next 5-10 years.

For most of us the most meaningful action we can take to tackle Climate Change

is therefore to:

Write to our local MP and then engage in a continuing dialogue with them.

This is confirmed by numerous organisations leading calls for greater action to tackle climate change including the

United Nations, research and academic bodies, charities concerned with climate justice and environmental groups. Click

As a starting point

writing to your MP is incredibly easy.

This web site offers step by step advice on how to do this  and has a series of sample letters that can be freely copied, pasted and adapted.

Dialogue with your MP costs very little money and takes very little time:

less than the cost of a first class stamp each month and as little as 15minutes each week. (mostly on your mobile device when you have a free moment).

The message

needs to be simple and unambiguous:

is that much much greater action is needed to  drastically cut current greenhouse gas emissions in real terms by 2030

otherwise, according to the current scientific consensus, the children of our own families will start to experience some of the worste effects of climate change within their own lifetimes.

Join forces with other

people locally if you can.

Its likely to be more enjoyable and enriching if you join forces with other like minded people locally, also more likely that momentum in the dialogue with your local MP will be maintained. See our page on

Joining forces with others

for more information.

Nudge other people you know who are concerned about the Climate Emergency to take similar action.

If only 1% or 2% of people in the UK were to do this,  a powerful lobby of nearly one million people would be created. Enough dialogue with MPs to seriously raise the profile of the issue and help bring about the significant changes that are urgently needed.

If every sitting MP was engaged daily in on-going dialogue within their own constituencies with numerous different people and groups constantly speaking the truth and calling for Climate Action as an urgent, current and pressing issue, it would much more difficult for them to ignore and continue to look the other way.

Gretha Thunberg has proved to all of us that no one is too small to make a difference.
